Cancer Care | Healthcare Education Centres | Operating Theatres | Paediatrics | Remote Consultations | Stroke Services
We believe clear and accurate communication with clinicians is a crucial component of collaboration.
In 2004 MultiSense Communications formed a dedicated Healthcare Division. Our staff continue to spend time in hospitals with clinicians in order to understand their concerns, obtain a clear understanding of “Clinical Speak” and medical terms and ensure we keep up to date with future requirements. We are Polycom’s only Specialist Healthcare partner and we have developed clinical and healthcare education solutions with Polycom’s high definition telepresence technology at the core.
The NHS is under continual pressure to increase the quality of care for its patients, to control costs and increase the training of their highly motivated but already overstretched clinical staff. An investment in telepresence allows clinicians, 24 hours a day to refer, evaluate, consult and suggest treatment remotely for patients. The return on the investment is usually very rapid, resulting in greater efficiency, improved patient care, reduced waiting times and cost savings.
One example of this is our solution developed specifically to facilitate a 24 x 7 thrombolysis service for the remote consultation of stroke patients within the three hour window. There are a limited number of qualified stroke consultants available in the UK. Using our solution a stroke consultant can support a number of hospitals either from home using a PC telepresence system connected to broadband, or from another hospital using their network. The consultant can conduct a live consultation and NIHSS assessment with the patient and using a combination of High Definition remote telepresence and image transfer via Picture Archiving & Communications System (PACS) can advise the local medical team on the treatment that needs to be administered.
