Whilst many organisations have intergrated telepresence into their everyday working practises, for some there still remains a few myths that are serving as a barrier to the adoption of telepresence.
In this document, Polycom have taken five of the most common misconceptions about telepresence and have shown the facts.
- “Telepresence uses too much Bandwidth”
- “Telepresence is only for Executives”
- “Telepresence is too Expensive”
- “Telepresence Systems from Different Vendors don’t Connect”
- “Telepresence Calls can only be made Within my Organisation”

MultiSense Communications designed and installed a telepresence solution for the main conference room in our Paris office. The solution includes two LCD displays, a short throw projector and screen, ceiling mounted microphones and two video cameras, all of which are controlled from a touch-screen console, programmed by MultiSense Communications. From a map of the room layout, displayed on the touch-screen, we can select to display content from any of six laptops located in the conference room or content from far-end participants. A number of pre-set camera positions can be easily selected from the touch-screen, from where they can also be manually controlled.
